Code of Conduct

Professional Responsibility

In the course of their professional life and in the exercise of their profession, members shall accept an obligation of responsibility for the product of their labour directed to the public, the user and their client. A more general obligation of professional responsibility is to apply in relation to their employer, employees, other practitioners, their profession and their professional body, Mapping Sciences Institute, Australia, but first and foremost is their responsibility to the public.

Truth in Presentation

In the product of their labour, members will strive to present the truth with clarity and without ambiguity, using all the knowledge and skills that their profession offers and which are within their individual capacities and that of their clients or employers.

Quality

In the exercise of their profession, members will uphold and apply the practice of quality management, ensuring the quality is intrinsic in the product and services provided to their employer, client and the public.

Maintenance and Development of the Profession

In the course of their professional life and in the exercise of their profession, members shall strive constantly to maintain the profession as an identifiable entity, warranting the highest esteem of all other professions and the community. Germane to this is the development and maintenance of the knowledge and skill base of the profession both corporately and by each individual member.

Business Practice

In the conduct of their profession, members shall maintain the highest standard of ethical business practice, consistent with the inherent integrity of the profession.
